Can’t agree more about humor in emergency prep — last year, we threw a community barbecue while discussing disaster kits, and it really lightened the mood. It’s true what they say: ‘Laughter can be a powerful tool in serious situations.’ For me, incorporating a fun element has boosted participation — mixing practicality with enjoyment really works.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌

But i once led a workshop on emergency kits, and we turned it into a competition to see who could come up with the most outrageous item to include. It was hilarious and really got everyone thinking about what they might need — plus, it made for some great laughs. As @JohnDoe said, humor really can ease the stress in serious discussions.

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌

It’s amazing how a little humor can shift the mood in tense situations. I once hosted a potluck where everyone brought their ‘essential’ items for disaster prep — let me tell you, a pineapple on a helmet was a big hit! It’s a reminder that we can be serious about preparation while still keeping it light-hearted. @VolunteerCrew, have you all tried something similar?
