We’re adding a 60-minute refresher on intake flow and cold-weather safety to prep volunteers for our mobile flu and COVID vaccination clinics. First session is Wednesday, Jan 7 at 5:30 pm at the Elm Street Health Hub; we’ll demo the new check-in tablets and practice brief health screenings. If you plan to staff a clinic in January, please RSVP in this thread so we can schedule enough trainers.
Count me in for Jan 7 at 5:30. Tip from last winter: if the check-in tablets bog down in the cold, “tuck a hand warmer behind the case” for 2–3 minutes to revive touch and battery — just don’t overheat it; will you share the screening script ahead of time?
I can make the Jan 7 session at 5:30 at Elm Street. My best cold-weather tweak: ‘zip the tablet in a gallon bag’ to shed sleet while keeping taps responsive — if it fogs, just crack the seal for a second instead of wiping.
I’m in for Jan 7 at 5:30 pm at Elm Street. Alongside @nrivera23’s bag trick, I’ve had good results turning on “Guided Access” so the check-in app doesn’t rotate and clipping a slim power bank under the stand to keep the tablet steady in the cold — just check with IT so you have the passcode; saves us from the tap-tap-panic dance at intake.
